Removing Acrylics At Home
Step-by-step Instructions for Safe Removal
Don't Try This at Home (Unless You Know What You're Doing)
Removing acrylics at home may seem like a daunting task, but it's not impossible. With a little patience and the right tools, you can remove your acrylics without damaging your natural nails. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:1. Gather your supplies. You will need:
- 100% acetone
- Cotton balls or pads
- Aluminum foil
- Cuticle pusher or orange stick
- Nail file
- Buffer
- Moisturizer
2. Prepare your nails. File the surface of your acrylic nails to remove any shine. This will help the acetone penetrate the nails more easily.
3. Soak your nails in acetone. Pour 100% acetone into a small bowl and soak your nails for 10-15 minutes. The acetone will dissolve the acrylic, making it easier to remove.
4. Wrap your nails in aluminum foil. This will help to keep the acetone on your nails and prevent it from evaporating.
5. Check your nails. After 10-15 minutes, check your nails to see if the acrylic is starting to lift. If it is, use a cuticle pusher or orange stick to gently lift the acrylic away from your nails.
6. File and buff your nails. Once all of the acrylic has been removed, file and buff your nails to smooth out any rough edges.
7. Moisturize your nails. Apply a moisturizer to your nails to help them heal and prevent them from becoming dry and brittle.
Warning: Acetone is a strong chemical, so it is important to take precautions when using it. Avoid contact with your skin and eyes, and use it in a well-ventilated area.
